Steps To Complete
Cutting Instructions
1
Load the simple plush (Cut & Stitch) file into your cutting machine’s software. Notice that it has multiple cutting files to fit all the pieces. These are labeled with “A”, “B”, “C”, etc., and are organized by how they fit into a file and not necessarily by material. |
2
To ensure that the measurements and seam allowances are correct, make sure all pieces are sized correctly in your cutting software. Group and scale all pieces together. For CGS6539 Fox Plush, file “A” is 11.49” x 15.3585”, and File “B” is 11.49” x 15.3585”. For CGS6704 Kitty Plush, select all pieces and scale together to be 11.49”w x 22.31”h. |
3
This design has two fabric pieces and several different heat transfer vinyl colors across the files. Proceed in the design software until the first color selection appears, and is ready to be cut. |
4
Smooth the first material onto the adhesive mat with the right side facing down. Because the right side of the material is facing down, make sure the pieces are mirrored. Then load the adhesive mat into the machine. |
5
For each material, make sure to use the correct settings on your cutting machine to match the material you’ve chosen. Make sure the correct knife tool is also in place. |
6
Cut out the first color selection. Then carefully remove the cut pieces and excess materials. |
7
Repeat to cut all of the fabric and vinyl pieces for the plush out of all the colors. |
Crafting Instructions
1
|
The front piece (color 1) will have heat transfer vinyl details on it. To position the vinyl pieces correctly, locate the pair of triangles on each cut out vinyl piece. |
2
|
These vinyl triangles match up with triangle notches found along the outer edges of the front fabric piece. |
3
|
Match up the vinyl triangles and notches, then use a heat press or dry iron to adhere the vinyl piece in place following the manufacturer’s instructions. |
4
|
Then repeat to position and adhere all of the heat transfer vinyl pieces in place. |
5
|
Different plush designs have different vinyl pieces, so place and layer them all according to the design you are using. |
6
|
After all the vinyl details are in place, lay the back piece (color 1) on top of the front piece. Make sure right sides are together, and match up the edges. |
7
|
Then pin the two fabric pieces together. When possible, try not to pin through the vinyl details as it can leave a hole. |
8
|
Sew a 1/4” seam allowance around the pinned edges. |
9
|
Make sure to leave a 4” (or wider) opening at the bottom of the plush for turning. |
10
|
Trim away or notch the seam allowance around the curves and in the corners of the design. Make sure not to cut into the seam. This will help the shape be correct and prevent bunching and puckering once the plush is right side out. |
11
|
Turn the plush right side out through the opening. |
12
|
Then stuff the plush with polyester fiberfill or another filling of your choice. |
13
|
Fold the raw edges of the opening inside of the plush 1/4”. Then hand sew the opening closed using thread that matches the fabric in color. |
14
|
This completes the simple plush. |
15
|
Repeat these steps to make a collection of different plushes to use or give as gifts. Make sure not to resize these designs, as the seam allowance makes them unscalable. |
