Steps To Complete

Cutting Instructions

1

Load the Gnome Bottle Topper (Cut & Stitch) file into your cutting machine’s software. This design has two different fabric colors. Proceed in the design software until the first color selection appears, and is ready to be cut.

2

Smooth the first fabric color onto the adhesive mat with the right side of the fabric facing up.

3

Make sure the Knife Tool is in place. Then load the adhesive mat and fabric into the cutting machine.

4

Cut out the first color. Then carefully remove the fabric pieces and the leftover fabric.

5

For the second color, which is cut from faux fur, you may need to increase the pressure of the blade on your cutting machine. Use a setting that would be used for denim or other thick materials. Then carefully remove the pieces and the leftover fabric.

Sewing Instructions

1

To assemble the Gnome Bottle Topper, take the hat piece (color 1), and fold it in half with right sides together. Pin along the long edge of the hat.

2

Then sew a 1/4” seam along the pinned side, making sure to leave the bottom open.

3

Trim the corners, and cut slits in the seam allowance at the point and narrowest part of the hat, but be careful not to cut into the seam.

4

Then turn the hat right side out.

5

Next turn the open edge up 1/2” to make a cuff for the hat.

6

Use a hot glue gun to glue the cuff in place just at the seam in the back.

7

To help the hat stand up and curl, cut a pipe cleaner 10 1/2” long.

8

Slide it into the hat along the back seam.

9

Then tuck the pipe cleaner under the back seam. Use a hot glue gun to glue it in place under the seam, so it won’t be seen and will be securely held in place inside of the hat.

10

Next take the beard (color 2), and place a few dots of glue right along the top, straight edge of the beard using a hot glue gun.

11

Glue the beard inside of the hat, but don’t push it in too far. For best results, only tuck the beard into the hat about 1/4” when gluing it in place.

12

For the nose, take a wooden knob, and simply hot glue it into place over the top edge of the beard.

13

Then take a small jingle bell, and hot glue it into place on the point of the hat.

14

The Gnome Bottle Topper is sized to fit over the neck of a wine bottle. Simply slide top of the bottle into the hat to make it into a fun decoration or gift. This completes the Gnome Bottle Topper. Repeat these steps to make a collection of gnomes in a variety of fabrics and colors. Just make sure to not resize these designs, as the seam allowance makes them unscalable.
