Steps To Complete

Cutting Instructions

1

Load the confetti card (Cut & More) file into your cutting machine’s software.

2

To ensure that the card fits inside a A2 envelope, make sure all pieces are sized correctly in your cutting software. Group and scale all pieces together. For CGM6585 Mason Jar Confetti Card, the file size is 10.75” x 23.25”.

3

This design uses several colors of cardstock, acetate, and 2mm chipboard. Proceed in the design software until the first color selection appears, and is ready to be cut.

4

Smooth the first material onto the adhesive mat. Then load the adhesive mat into the machine.

5

For each material, make sure to use the correct settings on your cutting machine to match the material you’ve chosen. Make sure the correct knife tool is also in place.

6

Cut out the first color selection. Then carefully remove the cut pieces and excess materials.

7

For the confetti, select what shapes you would like to use and delete the unwanted shapes from the software. Each confetti shape is already in a group of 40 pieces (20 large and 20 small). To achieve the same look as our example, cut a total of 80 confetti pieces (40 large and 40 small). This can be achieved by using two groups of different shapes, or duplicating the group of your chosen shape, so you have twice as many.

8

Repeat to cut out all of the pieces for the confetti card.

Crafting Instructions

1

First, spread a thin layer of white glue onto either side of one spacer (color 6).

2

Set the other spacer on top of the glued side, and line up the edges. Hold the two spacers together until the glue completely dries to ensure they are securely glued together.

3

Acetate does not adhere well with glue, so in this example we will be using a permanent double sided tape. Place the tape all across one side of the spacers (color 6).

4

Remove the tape’s paper (if it has any), and smooth the acetate window (color 3) on top of the spacers, matching up the outer edges. To prevent fingertips, cover your finger with a tissue when touching the acetate.

5

Then take the front piece (color 4), and place the double sided tape all across the wrong side of the paper.

6

Line up the outer edges, and smooth the paper piece on top of the acetate (color 3).

7

Spread a thin layer of glue on the back side of the front detail piece (color 5).

8

Line up the outer edges, and smooth it on top of the front piece (color 4).

9

Now that the front of the confetti holder is completed, flip it over. Carefully place all of the confetti inside of the holder, so the right side of the confetti is resting on the acetate.

10

This way if your paper is one sided like ours, only the pretty side will show once the card is completed.

11

Spread a thin layer of glue across the back side of the spacers. Do not use tape for this step, as the confetti will stick to it and get trapped between the layers when shaken. Then take the back piece (color 4), and smooth it on top of the spacers to close up the back. Make sure to line up the outer edges, and hold the pieces together until the glue has completely dried.

12

This completes the confetti holder, use it on its own or set it aside while the card is made.

13

Using a bone folder to get a crisp fold, fold the outer card in half along the score line.

14

Repeat with the card liner.

15

The liner helps to add a place to write if the outer card is patterned or a dark color. To add the liner do not use white glue as it will cause the outer card and liner to wrinkle and warp. Instead, use permanent double sided tape to adhere the liner inside of the card.

16

For best results, adhere one side and then the other to make sure the fold matches up well.

17

Then use double sided tape again to prevent wrinkling caused by glue. Place the tape on the back side of the back piece (color 4).

18

Position the confetti holder on the front side of the card as desired, and adhere it in place.

19

This completes the confetti card. Repeat these steps to make a variety of different cards to give as gifts. Make sure not to resize these designs, as they are designed to fit an A2 envelope.
